Powerful Inline Bathroom Extractor Fans

Sometimes you just need that little bit more. Perhaps it’s the cold winter months, or perhaps you have an abnormally large bathroom or shower space to clear. Imagine finishing your dream bathroom and taking your first shower in it, only to find that your wimpy extractor fan just isn’t capable of removing the moisture from the room. Or that your fan seems to take forever to demist the mirror when you’re standing there needing a shave.

Thankfully, there is a solution in the form of powerfull inline extractor fans that can shift some serious amounts of damp air from your bathroom. After all, in the words of Jeza Clarkson, “Power!!!… is everything”. Well, maybe not always but in this case it can certainly make the difference and a powerfull inline fan can certainly make the difference in your home. The last thing you want is an ineffective fan in your bathroom.

What Makes Inline Fans So Powerfull?

Typically you will find that the more powerfull extractor fans are inline models only as they generally have a bulkier fan unit than others and thus will need mounting somewhere discreet. Usually either in the cavity of your wall between the fan vent and the external grill, or up in the loft out of sight.

Don’t think that just because they are more powerfull that they are more noisy however, as this is often not the case as you can see below. Some of the most powerfull fans on the market in the UK are just as quiet as their counterparts. However, there are some factors that can compromise the power of your fan unit too.

So make sure there is a gap at the bottom of your bathroom door to allow the fan to draw air into the room to replace the moist air it extracts Otherwise, your fan will be trying to create a vacuum in the bathroom which can decrease the power of even the best of extractor fans.

The Top 3 Most Powerfull Bathroom Fans

So now that you know what makes a powerfull inline fan, you’ll no doubt want to know which are the best? Well, in our opinion the top 3 are…

#1 Manrose MF100T In-line Extractor Fan + Timer

The Manrose Mf100t In-line Extractor Fan With Timer has exceptional powerThere is no getting away from it, the MF100T is a beast of an extractor fan and by far one of the most powerfull around. Capable of shifting a hefty 61 litres per second of air from your home it’s more than suited to the most strenuous of tasks. You might think that all this power comes at a price, and well, you’d be wrong!

Not only is it well priced for such a capable unit but surprisingly it’s one of the quietest units around at just 24dB. Complete with 3 year or 30,000 hour warranty it’s not hard to see why this is one of the best selling inline fans around.

#2 Vent-Axia 17104020 ACM100T 100mm In-Line Mixed Flow Fan

Vent-Axia 17104020 ACM100T 100mm In-Line Mixed Flow FanThe Vent Axia ACM100T has the distinct honour of being arguably the most quiet extractor fan around. At just 23dB you can barely tell this thing is on, or at least you couldn’t if it wasn’t for the vast amount of moist air the fan extracts from your room. This unit is capable of extracting a massive 120 litres per second and with only 23 Watts usage it is also one of the most energy efficient fans too.

Is there any down side to the ACM100T you may ask? Well, not in the feature department, no. However, it should be noted that it is not cheap, not by a long shot. Though the saying “you get what you pay for” certainly rings true here, a stunning extractor fan.

#3 Airflow AVENTA 100T 100mm In-Line Timer Fan

Airflow AVENTA 100T 100mm In-Line FanJust like the other models above, the Aventa 100T is capable of running at two different speeds, 40 and 52 litres per second. With its powerfull centrifugal impeller fan it’s more than capable of keeping your bathroom or shower moisture free. With the added benefit of its ability to mount multiple units in serial or parallel configuration you have all the extraction power you could possibly need.

This fan does have a few minor downsides though, first of all it’s not the most energy efficient of fans compared to the two above. Perhaps more importantly though it is significantly louder in comparison too, so if peace and quiet is what you seak we’d recommend one of the two units above instead. Otherwise, it’s a good quality unit for the price.

  • Multiple inline fans can be mounted together to increase the extraction rate.

Cons

Conclusion

A powerfull bathroom fan can make the difference when it comes to effective moisture clearance, particularly for those of us with larger than average bathrooms. Combining power with low noise is a winner every time in my books. Though choosing between the #1 and the #2 fans was a difficult decision.

Whilst the Vent-Axia 17104020 ACM100T excels in almost every category, it’s hefty price tag means it only just loses out on the number one spot to the Manrose MF100T. Both these fans will make an excellent addition to your home and help to keep it moisture free for many a year to come.
